The Elgin Recreation Center Offers a wide variety of classes, programs and activities included in the Elgin Recreation Center Membership. The goal of the Recreation Center is to provide fitness opportunities for everyone in the community through a wide variety of classes and programs for all ages and abilities.

Mind, Body, Spirit Class with Patti

Mondays & Wednesdays 9:00AM - 10:00AM

This class combines Reiki, Ayurveda and a mix of yoga and gentle stretching techniques and will adapt and evolve with patron feedback.

Reiki is a holistic way to connect an individual's life forces within, that is warm and nurturing and gives a person the ability to connect to their inner life forces. Ayurveda, the lesser known sister science of yoga, is based on the belief that health can be achieved on a mind-body balance for life time wellness. Ayurveda and Yoga come from the same philosophy but Ayurveda focuses on the goal of living correctly or "Dharma", health and wellbeing, while Yoga focuses on the goal of enlightenment or "moksha" plus spiritual enlightenment.

High Intensity Fitness with Lauren

Mondays & Wednesdays 6:00PM - 6:45PM

Feel Stronger and leaner with this fast- paced, instructor led class for all level of athletes every Monday and Wednesday. Exercises vary by class for a whole body workout. You'll pick up the pace during these calorie-burning circuit workouts made up of conditioning, agility and some equipment based movements targeting Butt & Legs, Upper Body & Core- a Full body Burn!

Dance Body Work with Pedro

Tuesdays 9:15AM - 10:15AM 

Group coaching for physical well-being, to relieve tension, correct posture, reduce stress, diminish fatigue and increase energy. Clients will learn how to improve their fitness, replacing fat with muscle. The work also increases mental concentration and memory; and physical balance is improved. The goal is not athletic performance, but to help you spend some effective time on yourself and your body through simple exercises adapted to age and daily activities. The class will advice you on using your body more effectively each day.

Message from Instructor Pedro:

I use my 45 years of experience as a professional dancer and teacher. From my daily practice of Tibetan yoga stretches. I have selected simple exercises that enable the maintenance or the achievement of physical fitness. I am concerned with giving you certain keys that will soon lead you, on your own, to acquiring the reflex of giving this attention to yourself and your body.

Wildcat Walkers - Senior Walking Club

Seniors aged 60+ are invited to come to the Elgin Recreation Center for FREE Monday - Saturday from 8:00AM-10:00AM to walk laps in the Gym.

Wildcat Walkers is a fun way to socialize with other seniors while walking in a climate controlled gym, providing a safe space for fitness. The Elgin Recreation Center rewards walking milestones, so for your first 100 miles walked, you receive a shirt, for 250 miles you'll receive a pedometer and for 500 miles you'll receive a stainless steel water bottle.

Extreme Walking - FREE Challenge Walking Club for Ages 60+

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8:00AM - 10:00AM.

Participants aged 60+ are invited to come to the Elgin Recreation Center every Tuesday and Thursday for fun and fitness! From 8:00AM - 10:00AM WildCat Walkers have the opportunity to take their walks to the next level with Extreme Walking!

Extreme Walking is a fun way to socialize with other seniors while taking your walk to the next level! While doing laps, choose to take on low impact obstacles such as steppers, hurdles, balance beams and more. These obstacles are designed to help improve balance and increase fitness opportunities for Elgin's active older adults.

Portable Pickleball


Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Every Monday, Friday, and Saturday the Elgin Recreation Center will set up our portable Pickleball set in the Basketball Gym.

Three nets are set up for beginners, intermediates, and advanced players Equipment is available for use at the front desk. All skill levels are welcome.

Pickleball is FREE for Elgin Recreation Center Members or $5/Day for Non-Members.

Community Volleyball Night

Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00PM - 9:00PM

Join Elgin Parks & Recreation for full court Volleyball on Mondays & Wednesday nights. This is an opportunity for volleyball players of all ages to come together and practice, meet new friends and get fit!

Skate Night at the Elgin Recreation Center

All ages and abilities are encouraged to come skate board, roller blade, bike and scooter at the Elgin Recreation Center. Volunteers run the event, set up obstacles and help teach kids.
