On Saturday, February 24th we'll have music, snacks, give aways, raffle and more!
The new playground was funded by 2021a Certificates of Obligation and American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification - FREE

NOW ENROLLING! Get your Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification for FREE through this Elgin Parks & Recreation and Elgin ISD Partnership!
We encourage everyone to take part in this training to help our community thrive and improve resilience. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

Return of Skate Night | Spring Break with Elgin Parks & Recreation

Help kick off our season of skating, scootering, rollerblading and more with obstacles, refreshments and music!
- Volunteers are setting up skate obstacles through the Elgin Recreation Center back parking lot.
- Parks & Recreation is hosting a custom popcorn bar, totally FREE.
- Elgin Arts Association will be hosting Art Walls where you can practice your spray painting skills.
- Lonestar Skate Shop will be leading a class on assembling a full skateboard and raffling off a skateboard!

Catch & Release Fishing | Spring Break with Elgin Parks & Recreation

Join Parks & Recreation for catch and release fishing at Morris Memorial pond. We will provide a limited number of fishing poles and bait, have a knot typing station, and be taking pictures of your catches!

Picnic in the Park | Spring Break with Elgin Parks & Recreation

Join Elgin Parks & Recreation in Elgin Memorial Park by the playground for kite flying, cloud watching, iSpy, and more!
This FREE Spring Break event is geared towards all ages interested in spending an afternoon in the park. Between free play and lawn games as well as guided activities, you'll experience a number of fun ways to enjoy Elgin's beautiful parks!
Community Easter Egg Hunt

Hunt for Easter Eggs, play games and get to know your community! All ages are welcome, just be sure to bring your own basket!

Churches, organizations, businesses and groups are encouraged to donate plastic, candy filled, taped Easter Eggs to help make the hunt possible! Donations of 150 eggs or more accepted.
