Alarm Permits

The City of Elgin requires by the Alarm Permit Ordinance that all alarms (both business and residential) in the City be permitted through the Police Department. The ordinance provides that certain fees be collected in association with the permitting and those are explained on the application for alarm permit. Each permit must be renewed on an annual basis to ensure that the alarm is still an active alarm and is properly maintained to prevent false alarms to the extent possible.
