Community Boards & Committees

Get Involved in Your Community!

Volunteering to serve on one of the many Boards, Committees or Commissions is a great way to serve the community and become a part of its future. In addition to the Boards listed below, there are many committees within these boards that also need members. Please contact the department responsible for each board for additional information.

The City of Elgin 101

the City of Elgin 101 is a Citizens Academy used by the City to teach residents about day-to-day functions and roles of local government. The purpose of the City of Elgin 101 is to educate residents about operations, cultivate future leaders, and showcase talents of City staff. The program is a great prerequisite for serving on a City board or commission.

The City of Elgin 101 will consist of eight informational sessions on Monday evenings from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, beginning January 23, through March 2023. Presentations will be featured by multiple representatives from City departments. Twenty residents will be accepted into the program, and participation is free. At the end of the eight-week program, a graduation ceremony for participants will be held at a City Council meeting.

Applications open on October 1st, and close November 29th. For questions regarding the City of Elgin 101, please contact Jennifer Stubbs, City Secretary, at (512) 229-3222 or email at jennifer.stubbs@elgintexas.gov

Applications for the January - March 2023 class are now closed.
