A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange meant to encourage the sharing of books in the community. The Elgin Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with members of the community and local businesses, have installed four (4) Little Free Libraries in three (3) of our local parks.
In 2020 Jeanette Shelby Realty built, donated, and continues to stock three (3) Little Free Libraries; two (2) in Elgin Memorial Park and one (1) at the trail entrance to the Shenandoah Greenbelt. You can recognize these Little Free Libraries by their classic shape and bright pink paint! Jeanette Shelby Realty has also added numerous other locations throughout town marked in grey on the map.
Next time you visit the park, stop by a Little Free Library and pick up a book to read in the park!
Have books to donate? Stop by any time and contribute to the books or email parks@elgintexas.gov for large scale donations.
